It all started in 1979 when Ed and Ruth Myers first realized they wanted to be in some form of catering ; i.e. party trays, breakfast, luncheons, private parties, etc. They ended up in the off premises catering business rather quickly, but with a plan that would take them into BBQs, business events, special event planning, weddings, breakfasts, and luncheons. It took them from small crowds of 25 to a guest list, on many occasions, exceeding 1,500 guests!
They spent many years taking the business to new heights and then slowed it down after their kids were out of school and college. They maintained a comfortable work level, but on a much slower pace.
It was 2003 when they realized they wanted to take what they knew well and enter into the restaurant/bar business, while maintaining the catering business. They purchased the Wrightsville Inn in 2003 and began trading as the Wrightsville Inn Grille & Drafthouse.
“While we still maintained our sanity and our desire to continue the off premise catering business,” says Ed Myers,”We have developed somewhat of an eclectic menu for the restaurant that fuses our past into the present.”
The menu offers upscale gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches from the meltdown section and, from the Dawg Pound, four varieties of grilled ¼-pound all beef hot dogs.
